As Hurricane Sandy rearranged the east coast the turbulence spread 750 miles to where I was in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on Lake Michigan. All day people came to gawk at the waves and when overwhelmed by the chilling force of the wind they turned back to their warm cars. I walked further out the pier, bracing my stance to keep upright. Here I was humbled, thinking about victims of disasters who have nothing to turn back to, and then to those who have never known comfort.

You captured the unreal feeling of this disaster....cold, stark fear, frustration and helplessness. Your humbling comment expressed this so well.
